Joint Auditions

Announcing joint AUDITIONS for our Spring Productions of
Psycho Beach Party by Charles Busch and
JAWS: The Musical (THEA 4860)

Two campy, crazy comedies are coming to GSU in the Spring!

General auditions for Psycho Beach Party and Jaws: The Musical will take place Mon. Dec. 4, between 7-9:30, and Tues. Dec. 5 between 7-9pm.

Students are able to audition for one or both of these projects at the same time. In addition, both projects do not conflict with each other; therefore actors are able to perform in both projects.

All theatre majors are required to perform a 1 min. contemporary monologue.

All actors will perform in a group improvisation during their audition time.

If you don’t have monologue, you may be given a scene from Psycho Beach Party to perform.

Please dress in comfortable clothing and shoes that won’t restrict movement.

Note: If you have taken Beginning Acting or Acting 2 with Dr. Fish, please contact him directly at tfish@gsu.edu to schedule an audition time for Psycho Beach Party. You will only sign up for a time slot on Mon. Dec. 4th if you would also like to audition for Jaws. If you are currently in Beginning Acting with Dr. Moss-Bouldin, you may contact her directly at smoss@gsu.edu to schedule a time to audition for Jaws. However, if you want to also be considered for Psycho Beach Party, you must sign up for a time slot on Monday, December 4th or 5th.

Callbacks for Psycho Beach Party are on Wed. Dec. 6th between 6-9pm. The play runs  February 8-11th 2018.

Callbacks for Jaws: The Musical are Thur. Dec. 7th from 6:30-9:30. At that time, you will sing a short verse of “Amazing Grace” and learn a short dance routine. If you are an actor that also plays an instrument, please bring it to auditions. Please note that tech and performance week for Jaws: The Musical will be the week of April 16th-22nd. If you do not have a clear schedule during that time, you will not be considered for Jaws: the Musical.

Please note, there are production opportunities that are associated with Jaws: The Musical since it is also a class (THEA 4860). Please email Dr. Moss-Bouldin at smoss@gsu.edu if you are also interested in robotics, animation, writing, dramaturgy, performing an instrument, costumes, lighting, props, projections, or any other aspects of production. Like all classes, if you participate in Jaws: The Musical for course credit, you may be required to pay tuition and other fees.

About the Psycho Beach Party:
“Gidget”, Frankie and Annette beach party epics, and Hitchcock psychological suspense thrillers such as “Spellbound” and “Marnie” are given a shotgun marriage. Chicklet Forrest, a teenage tomboy, desperately wants to be part of the surf crowd on Malibu Beach in 1962. One thing getting in her way is her unfortunate tendency towards split personalities. Among them is a black check out girl, an elderly radio talk show hostess, a male model named Steve and the accounting firm of Edelman and Edelman. Her most dangerous alter ego is a sexually voracious vixen named Ann Bowman who has nothing less than world domination on her mind.
